UpKraft Raises ₹1.6 Crore to Scale AI-Led Extracurricular Learning

Bengaluru-based UpKraft has raised ₹1.6 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by PedalStart, marking an early but notable step for the AI-powered extracurricular learning startup. The fresh capital is expected to support product development, team expansion, and growth in key markets such as Bengaluru and Gurugram.

UpKraft is building a learning platform focused on extracurricular skills such as music, dance, and vocals. The company connects students with verified expert tutors across homes, residential communities, schools, and academies, while using AI tools to make learning more structured and measurable. Its approach aims to solve a long-standing gap in extracurricular education, where quality, consistency, and progress tracking are often difficult to maintain.

What makes this funding round interesting is the way UpKraft combines human teaching with technology. Instead of treating extracurricular learning as a purely offline activity, the startup is trying to turn it into a more data-driven experience through AI-based practice support and progress insights for parents. That could help the company stand out in a segment that has traditionally relied on informal coaching and word-of-mouth trust.

The round also highlights growing investor interest in niche education platforms that go beyond conventional edtech. While most attention in the sector has gone to test prep and academic learning, UpKraft is targeting a different and potentially large category of parent-led spending. If it can prove that AI improves engagement and retention without reducing the personal value of tutor-led learning, the startup may build a strong position in a relatively underdeveloped market.

For now, the company appears to be in an early scale-up phase. Its next challenge will be balancing expansion with service quality, especially because extracurricular learning depends heavily on tutor quality, parent trust, and student consistency. The funding gives UpKraft room to build that foundation, and the coming months will show whether it can turn a promising concept into a repeatable business.
