Apoorv Shankar, the former hardware vice president at Ultrahuman, has raised $5.5 million for his new startup Aina, which is building AI devices designed to control agents rather than simply record conversations. The funding round puts the company in the middle of a fast-moving race to define what the next generation of AI hardware will actually do.
The startup’s pitch is straightforward: most AI gadgets so far have focused on listening, capturing, or summarizing. Aina wants to move the category toward action, with devices that help users trigger workflows, manage meetings, and control AI systems more directly.
